Jerry J. DeKeyser

April 9, 1933 — February 26, 2014

Jerry J. DeKeyser, 80, Dyckesville, died peacefully, Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at home surrounded by family after a 7 month battle with lung cancer. Born in Green Bay, April 9, 1933, he is the son of the late Alphonse and Rose (Wendricks) DeKeyser. Jerry married the former Rosemary Besaw, January 24, 1953, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He served in both the Army and the Navy during the Korean War. Jerry worked at Georgia Pacific for 44 years until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. Louis Church, Dyckesville and St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Green Bay, the Knights of Columbus, De Pere, and the American Legion in Luxemburg. Jerry loved golfing, riding, the Green Bay Packers, watching Westerns, and times spent with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; three sons, Gary (Wendy) DeKeyser of Green Bay, Bill DeKeyser and Debbie of Neenah, and Paul (Tony Cornelius) DeKeyser of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Jean (Steve) Stein of Green Bay and Sally (Harley) Maes of New Franken; grandchildren, Joshua (Denise), Nick (Lyndsay), Heather, and Carissa DeKeyser, Heidi, Jamie, and Travis DeKeyser, Jenny and Joseph Stein, and John Clark; special great grandson, Matthew Stein; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, David (Lynne) DeKeyser of De Pere and Tom (Lois) DeKeyser of Denver, CO; sister Dianne Jacobs of New Franken; further survived by many relatives and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard “Coach” DeKeyser; grandchild, Lacey DeKeyser; and brother-in-law, Clarence Jacobs; and many in-laws.

Visitation at Malcore Funeral Home, University Ave. at Baird Street, Sunday from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Parish wake service 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mondays visitation will continue at St. Bernards Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Mark Vandersteeg officiating.
