Janet "Jan" Gorzlancyk

August 2, 1928 — November 14, 2013

Janet M. Gorzlancyk, 85, Green Bay, passed Thursday afternoon, November 14, 2013, at a local nursing home. Born August 2, 1928, in Green Bay, she is the daughter of the late Clement and Edith (Gilbert) Babler. Jan married Merlin “Merl” S. Gorzlancyk February 5, 1949, at Saints Peter and Paul Church and he preceded her on May 11, 1992. After spending time at home raising five children, she became a LPN and worked many years as a nurse. After her retirement, Jan volunteered assisting the less fortunate as well as children. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish and the Catholic Order of Foresters #987. Jan will be remembered for her love of music and dance, especially with her dear husband, Merl. She enjoyed her times with the Widows’ Club and traveling with family and friends. Jan’s grandchildren were everything to her.

Jan is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda and Mike Petersen of Appleton, Julie and Jim Borowitz of Green Bay, and Debbie and Jake Kriescher of Appleton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Carol Gorzlancyk and Scott and Lynn Gorzlancyk all of Stevens Point; 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Babler of Green Bay; one brother-in-law, Frank Petasek of Green Bay; and further survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 43 years, Merl; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Bob Schmitz; one sister-in-law, Rosemary Petasek.

Visitation at MALCORE (East) Funeral Home, University Avenue at Baird Street, Monday, November 18, 2013, from 4-8pm. Parish wake service 7pm Monday, November 18, 2013, at the funeral home. Visitation continues at the funeral home Tuesday morning, November 19, 2013, from 8am until the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass 10am Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Saints Peter and Paul Church with the Rev. Anthony V. Cirignani, OFM officiating. Interment with Merl at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.

Janet’s family extends a special thank you to the caring staffs of Bornemann Nursing Home and Unity Hospice for all the compassion shown to their mother.
