James Kenneth Theis

James Kenneth Theis, 85, Green Bay, died on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at a local hospital, with family by his side. Born on March 19, 1930, in Kewaunee County, he is the son of the late Matt and Leona (Herison) Theis. On September 1, 1956, he married the former Lorraine Angela Mueller, and she preceded him in death on October 13, 1980. Jim was a proud veteran that served in the United States Army during the Korean War. During his active duty, he played in the US Army Band. When his military duty was completed, Jim continued to play in various military engagements, both ceremonial and celebratory, including ceremonies for those who had fallen. Jim was a member of the American Legion, and assisted veterans with trips to clinics and hospitals in his later years. He had a passion for music, especially brass musical instruments. Jim was involved in many bands that played locally and abroad, including the Allouez Brand. He was also an avid Packers fan who played with the Packers band during the Lombardi era. Jim worked as a steamfitter, most recently at the Kewaunee County Nuclear Power Plant in quality control, and was a proud member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 400. He was also a devout Catholic and member at Saints Peter and Paul Church.

Jim is survived by two children, Laura “Laurel” Jane Jackson, Manitowoc, and Paul James Theis, Green Bay; five grandchildren, Jillaine, Casey, and Jacob Jackson, Alaina E. and Samantha A. Theis; two sisters, Adeline (Roland) Frisque, and Gladys Theis; and one special sister-in-law, Geneva “Genie” Webster; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorraine; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Melvin (Barbara) Theis and Allen Keith Theis; and his parents.

Private services will take place at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Malcore (East) Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral services, 432-5579.
