Geraldine “Jean” V. Olson, 80, Green Bay, died peacefully on November 26, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 16, 1935, in Brussels, Wis., she is the daughter of the late Gordon and Verna (Hegnet) Mallien. Jean graduated from Brussels High School in 1952. On May 1, 1954, she married Russell Olson at St. Francis Xavier Church in Brussels, and he preceded her in death on February 4, 2012. Jean worked at Christy Shipyard in Sturgeon Bay, and Hoffers Glass in Green Bay. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, reading, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean volunteered at a number of organizations throughout her life, and was a dedicated member of the Altar Society at Saints Peter and Paul Church. She was also a longtime caregiver for many family members during her life.
Jean is survived by three children, Karen (Phil) White, Arena, Randy (Carol) Olson, Green Bay, and Robert (Kathy) Olson, Huntsville, AL; three grandchildren, Christina (Jeremy), Coreen, and Jimmy; three great grandchildren, Aaron, Alexandra, and Hannah; three sisters, Joyce Hafeman, Sharon McNulty, and Barbara (Jim) Harlan; one uncle, George (Beverly) Mallien; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one sister, LaVerne Mallien; numerous aunts and uncles; and several brothers-in-law.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., Sunday from 4 – 8 p.m. Rosary 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue Monday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the procession to church. Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Monday at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 710 N. Baird St., with the Rev. Anthony Cirignani, OFM officiating. Burial at Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
