February 6, 1940 — June 12, 2013

Gerald “Jerry” Joseph Villiesse, lifelong resident of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at the age of 73, at a local nursing home in the presence of his family after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Jerry was born on February 6, 1940, in Green Bay. He is the son of the late Theodore and Marie (Morois) Villiesse. Jerry graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1959. He attended the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh and later graduated from Badger Business College – Green Bay in 1963. On September 14, 1963, Jerry married Jean Ann Queoff at Saints Peter and Paul Church. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.

Jerry, who originally thought of becoming a teacher, decided to pursue a career in business. He began his career working in the payroll department for Bolanger Construction Company in Green Bay. After that, Jerry dedicated the next 25 years of his career working as a purchasing agent/assistant manager at Bathke Company in Green Bay. In 1990, he left the business world to explore a career in party planning and floral design. Jerry managed Party Perfect – East for many years and finished his career at Tillman’s Landscape and Nursery. He retired in 2004.

Jerry was involved in many clubs and organizations in the community. He was a member and served on the board for each of the following organizations: Hobby Greenhouse Club, Bayland Pallets, Friends of the Brown County Library, and Arts Unlimited. Jerry, along with members of his garden club, decorated some of the buildings at Heritage Hill State Park for Christmas for many years.

Jerry was a very talented and creative person with an extensive arts and crafts background. He and his wife participated in many craft shows in the area. Jerry would be most remembered for his hand-painted Christmas ornaments. In his earlier years, he taught ceramic classes in the basement of his home. In his later years, Jerry enjoyed watercolor painting. He won several awards in the area for his work with some of it being displayed and sold in Door County. Jerry enjoyed floral design, gardening, and interior decorating. He was always happy to help friends and family decorate their homes, landscape their yards, and create floral arrangements for their homes or special events. When Jerry wasn’t working on crafts, paintings, or in his flower gardens, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his granddaughters. Everyone appreciated his great sense of humor and ability to tell stories and jokes.

He will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife, Jean, who was his primary caretaker until his illness progressed; daughter, Noel (Villiesse) Hansel (Philip Resch) and her daughters Madelyn and Morgan Hansel, all of De Pere; daughter, Jenna Villiesse (Susan Grundy) of Appleton; sister-in-law, Gerri Villiesse of Green Bay; brother-in-law, Francis Queoff of Green Bay; cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert (Charity) Villiesse and Earl Villiesse.

Private family services were held with the assistance of MALCORE (East) Funeral Home.

A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Jerry and may be directed to either of his daughters, Jenna or Noel.

Jerry’s family extends a very special thank you to the staff at Park View Manor – Timeless Memories Unit for all of their compassion and care. The family also extends a very special thank you to Nurse Marilyn W. for her care, compassion, and support during his final hours.
