Gary Gilson

January 4, 1944 — August 6, 2013

Gary H. Gilson, 69, Green Bay, went home to Heaven to join his wife, Pat, Tuesday evening, August 6, 2013 while at a local hospital with his family by his side. Born January 4, 1944, in Rosier, he is the son of the late Melvin and Rose (Thiry) Gilson. Gary served his country from 1965-67 while in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. After returning from the service, he worked for many years at P&G where he met the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Meunier. On May 7, 1994, the couple was united in marriage. Pat preceded him in death on December 30, 2011. Gary was a proud member of the Casco American Legion Post #319. He will be remembered for his patriotism and love of nature. Gary was a devoted husband to his Little Peanut, Pat, and missed her dearly.

He is survived by six children and their spouses, Adrian (Janice) Kurowski of Green Bay, Mark (Cheryl) Kurowski of Howard, Michael (B.J.) Kurowski, Sr., Laurie (Kirk) Jones, Lisa (Randy) Doxtator, Russ (Joanne) Kurowski, all of Green Bay; brothers and sisters, Donald Gilson, Diane Massart, Leon Gilson, Wayne (Mary Ann) Gilson, Joanne Blahnik, Mary Ann (Dennis) Lockstein, Sharon (Ken) Rass, Mel (Mary) Gilson; sisters-in-law, Muriel Lealou, Jane Bauer, Claire Bosman, Carole Meunier and Audrey Gilson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 17 years, Pat; one brother, Allen Gilson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hattie Meunier, Pearl (Leonard) Kerscher, Gilbert Lealou, Elroy Bauer, and Darrel Bosman, Charles Meunier, Jr., Lloyd (Mary) Meunier.

Visitation at MALCORE (East) Funeral Home, University Avenue at Baird Street, Friday, Aug. 9th, from 4-8pm. Military eulogy 6:30pm Friday, Aug. 9th, conducted by Casco American Legion Post #319. Parish wake service Friday, Aug. 9th, 7pm at the funeral home. Visitation continues Saturday morning, Aug. 10th, at St. Bernard Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, from 9:30am until the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass 10:30am Saturday, Aug. 10th, at the church with the Rev. Mark P. Vander Steeg officiating. Full military honors to follow at the church conducted by Casco American Legion Post #319. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.

Gary’s family extends a special thank you to Father Mark Vander Steeg; the staff of St. Vincent ICU, and his caring neighbors, especially Sandy and Helen.
