Evelyn Eyermann

September 21, 1918 — July 8, 2013

Evelyn Mae (Bishop) Eyermann, 94, passed away on Monday July 8, 2013, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay. She was born near Lovilia, Iowa on September 21, 1918, to Nora Alice Bishop and Chester Mc Kinley Bishop. Evelyn was married on June 29, 1939, to Paul Harris Cooksey in Decorah, Iowa. The couple had three children, sons Michael Paul, Chester Arthur (stillborn) and daughter, Patricia Mae. Evelyn later married Louis Max Eyermann, January 17, 1976. She was preceded in death by both Paul and Lou.
Evelyn is survived by her two children and five grandchildren, Michael and wife, Patricia Ann (Harbaugh) Cooksey and their children David, Ann and Joseph Cooksey; daughter, Patricia Mae and her husband Ed Dietz and their children, Rachel and Keren.
Evelyn earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State Teachers' College and a Master of Arts from the University of Iowa, where she was a member of Phi Upsilon Omicron and Omicron Nu Honor Societies. Her major was Home Economics, her minors Biology and English. Evelyn taught Home Economics to the seventh grade through graduate level at the University of Iowa. She retired from Niles Township High School North in 1976.
Evelyn served as a Master Flower Show judge. One of her arrangements took first place in an international competition and appeared on the cover of the National Council of State Garden Club calendar. The following year, she also placed a design for one of the months in that calendar. She chaired two state garden club conventions, one regional garden club convention, and the Illinois Vocational Association Conference.
Other affiliations include the Green Bay Mayor's Beautification Committee, the (Santa Fe) Garden Club and the Green Bay Garden Club. She is Past Matron of the Park Ridge Chapter #797 and member of the Santa Fe Chapter No. 19 Orders of the Eastern Star. Evelyn is a past president of the United Methodist Women and was actively involved in church activities at First United Methodist Church for many years, including Senior Adults and work in the church archives.
The funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Green Bay at 3 PM on Sunday, July 14th, with visitation from 1 to 3 PM. Rev. Linda Pliska will officiate. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe New Mexico. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution, please donate to the Food Pantry through First United Methodist Church in Green Bay.
