Emogene J. Boulanger

Emogene J. “Auntie Em” Boulanger, 80, Green Bay, died peacefully in her sleep at a local nursing home on March 26, 2014, after a short illness. Born on July 18, 1933, in Green Bay, she is the daughter of the late Leo and Mayme (Buss) Boulanger. Emogene had a long and beautiful life; defying all medical prognoses from the age of six, and living past 80. In many aspects she had an idyllic child life - she had no worries about house payments, bill payments, or weather, which probably accounted for very little gray in her hair. Em smiled and had a laugh for everyone; she loved to joke and tease. She loved Circle the Word books and kept track of all the words she learned in separate notebooks, always writing them with different colored pens. Em enjoyed bowling and ceramics while at the Curative Workshop, in addition to needle point and Artex painting; many of the family members have been fortunate recipients of her creations. She loved family reunions, and times spent visiting with the younger family members as they grew. The family could always rely on Em when their memories failed them; she remembered who was sick and who were having babies and would always ask about them. She loved the Green Bay Packers, NASCAR, and shrimp dinners with her nieces at Blackstone Family Restaurant.

Survivors include her sister, Germaine (Harold) Compton, Green Bay; nieces, Janice Compton, Virginia Russell, Susan (Kevin) Detrie, all of Green Bay, Deb Cooper, Minnesota, Ellen (Jeff) Geuths, and Linda (David) DeGroot, both of Green Bay; nephews, Joseph (Julie) Compton and Orville (Jerry & Ann) Thayer, both of Green Bay. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and great, and great nieces and nephews.

Emogene was preceded in death by her parents, father, Leo Boulanger; mother, Mayme (Buss) Boulanger; two sisters, Leanne (Claire) Drevs, and Kayella (Orville) Thayer; two brothers-in-law, Orville Thayer and Claire Drevs; one nephew John Compton, one niece, Amy Mosher; many aunts, uncles, and cousins too numerous to mention.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gabriel Mihailescu and his staff at Aurora Medical Center and Aurora Hospital for their wonderful care of our Emogene. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Parkview Manor, who took great care of her these last few years, and to Malcore Funeral Home, for making the arrangements go so smoothly.

Emogene will be buried at Ft. Howard Cemetery. The family has decided on a private funeral & service. Malcore (East) Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements, 432-5579.
