Dorothy Jane Van Straten, 85, Green Bay, died peacefully, Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at a local hospital. Born in Green Bay, October 28, 1928, she is the daughter of the late Winfred and Alma (Heim) Van Rens. Dorothy married Clarence “Dutch” Van Straten on October 4, 1947, and he preceded her in death on July 1, 1998. She worked as a school bus driver for over 42 years at Laidlaw, primarily the bus to Ann Sullivan Elementary. Dorothy loved times spent up north with her children and grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she volunteered for many years as a lay communion distributor.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Scott (Stacy) Van Straten of Crivitz, Tim (Janice) Van Straten of Green Bay, and Mark (Michelle) Van Straten of Forestville; daughter-in-law, Barbara Van Straten of Green Bay; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Rita Banta of Green Bay; other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gary Van Straten; and brother-in-law, Merrill Banta.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird Street, Thursday, from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at Saints Peter and Paul Church with the Rev. Anthony Cirignani, OFM officiating. Entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
