Debra L. Schlemmer

Debra L. Schlemmer, 52, De Pere, was called home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 31, 1961, in Winona, MN, she is the daughter of Marcia (Rebers) and the late Roger Nelson. Debbie attended Cottonwood High School and graduated in 1979. On May 19, 1984, she married David Schlemmer at English Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, MN. They were blessed with three children, Stacy, Sarah, and Jon. Debbie enjoyed working with children and was employed at Lakeview Elementary School in Cottonwood, MN, as a secretary, prior to working many years at the West and East De Pere School Districts. Debbie was actively involved with her church, especially in the Sunday School program. She also enjoyed baking, photography, spending time with family, watching Jon play baseball, and being a loving mother and wife.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, David; three children, Stacy Schlemmer, De Pere, Sarah (John) Kumm, Grafton, WI, and Jon Schlemmer, De Pere; two brothers, Lyle Nelson, Luverne, MN, and Todd (Shannon) Nelson, Cottonwood, MN; three sisters, Vicki Czaplewski, Cindy (Chuck) Westby, and Patti Henthorne, all of Winona, MN; five brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Gary (Jill) Schlemmer, Lynd, MN, Richard (Mary) Schlemmer, Milroy, MN, Brad Schlemmer, Milroy, MN, Marty (Roxanne) Schlemmer, Sioux Falls, SD, and Terry Redding, Marshall, MN; mother, Marcia Nelson, Cottonwood, MN; and mother-in-law, Verlaine Schlemmer, Marshall, MN.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Nelson; father-in-law, Harold Schlemmer; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Schlemmer and Deborah Redding; and birth mother, Marlys Jaszewski.

Visitation at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2066 Lawrence Drive, De Pere, Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. John Parlow officiating. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery in De Pere. Malcore (West) Funeral Home is assisting the family, 499-4100.
