Charles “Chuck” Phillips, 77, Green Bay, passed Thursday evening, August 15, 2013, while at a local nursing home. Born December 16, 1935, he is the son of the late Alphonse and Margaret Phillips. Chuck had worked for many years as a guard at the reformatory and later enjoyed his time as a truck driver. He was a proud founder of “Self Help”, a transitional program in Brown County that assists former prisoners back into the community. In 1987, he married Claudia (Fannin) Germait.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Claudia; 4 children; 6 step-children; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 3 brothers and 1 sister; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.
Visitation at MALCORE (East) Funeral Home, University Avenue at Baird Street, Sunday, August 18, 2013, from 5pm until the time of the service. Memorial service 7pm Sunday, August 18, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Tracy Turntin officiating. In keeping with Chuck’s wishes his body was donated for medical research.
