Betty Martell, 83, Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, Feb. 2, 2015, at a local hospital. Born Sept. 1, 1931, in Manitowoc, she is the daughter of the late Fred and Angeline (Meyers) Payette. Betty married Ralph “Mike” Martell on Nov. 11, 1950 and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1985. She will be remembered for her enjoyment of baking, sewing and playing Bingo. Betty was a long-time member of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. In her later years, she spent many hours volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul.
Betty is survived by five children and spouses, Tom “Marty” and Margaret of Green Bay, Linda and Doug Stacie of Crivitz, Judy and Dick Cleveland of Suamico, Sharon and Patrick Van Lieshout of Dyckesville; Tim and Quinn of Sobieski; son-in-law, Mike Plesheck of Lakewood; 12 grandchildren, Michelle (Steven) Goetz, Tom (Ivory) Martell, Sara (Andy) Schlender, Angie (Steve) Carigon, Caleb (Dana) Cleveland, Effie (Tim) Rosek, Michael (Jennifer) Van Lieshout, James Van Lieshout, Stephanie (Dennis) Ponton, Willie (Rose) VandenPlas, Jeremy Martell and Josh (Janelle) Martell and also 26 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce Haworth of De Pere, Joan Van Boxel of De Pere, and Shirley Ness of Gillette; one sister-in-law, Helen Payette Barr of Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, “Mike”; one daughter, Bonnie Plesheck; one great-grandson, Daniel Ponton; two brothers, Edward and Earl Payette.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird Street, Thursday, from 4pm until the time of the funeral. Funeral 7pm, Thursday at the funeral home with Deacon Thomas J. Mahoney officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
