Betty Jane (Jacobs) Jonet

January 22, 1931 — January 20, 2017

Betty Jane (Jacobs) Jonet, 85, Bay Settlement, passed away Friday morning, Jan. 20, 2017, at a local care facility. Born Jan. 22, 1931, in New Franken, she is the daughter of the late Henry and Clara (Panure) Jacobs. Betty married Anthony “Tony” Jonet at Holy Cross on April 24, 1948 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1998. Over the years, the couple cared for many foster children. Betty was a long time member of Holy Cross Parish and served as president of the Altar Society for years. She was a proud member of the Lions Club and enjoyed time snowmobiling with the Midnite Trail Riders. She loved her time with family and friends at the cottage at Grindle Lake. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed crocheting and quilting and giving her products of love as gifts and spending time in her garden tending to her flowers and canning many of her vegetables. Betty is affectionately remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

Betty is survived by eight children, Nancy and Randy Paye, Luxemburg, Sandra and Mike DuBois, Dale Jonet, all of Green Bay, Eugene and Sharon Jonet, Duval, Amy and Randy Karnz, Sue Linssen (fiance’ Wendell Owen), Mary and Michael Gellin, and Lola Jonet, all of Green Bay; grandchildren, Rick (Julie), Terry (Diane) and Tim (Alyce) Paye, Linda (Ronald) Peters, David (special friend Beth Foley), Dan DuBois, Michelle (Steve) Reisner, Darrell Jonet (special friend Alisha Hicks), Jesse Jonet (special friend Kristin Leeming), Brooke Smith (special friend Dave Gauger), Brittnie (Dan) Davister, Jason (Paula) Karnz, Paul (Shelley) Karnz, Todd Mleziva (special friend Amy Soletski), Tiffany Linssen, Alex Menne (special friend Nikki Mommaerts), Megan (Drew) Weycker, Marissa Gellin (special friend Jake Gossen), Kelsey and Cory Jonet; 31 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Kenneth (Maggie) Jacobs, John (Cathy) Jacobs, Marjorie Everard, Marian (Andy) Leiterman, and Rosemary Jacobs; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Shirley, Carol and Sally Jacobs, Gladys Jonet, Ted Ducat, George (Kitty) Ratajczak; many other nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, “Tony”; father and mother-in-law, Alex and Ida Jonet; great-granddaughter, Amaris Soletski; brothers, Donald, Richard and James Jacobs; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lester Everard, Norman (Hildegard) Jonet, Alvin (Veronica) Jonet, John (Loretta) Jonet, Harvey Jonet, John (Verna) Falish Sr., Marion Jonet, Leona Derenne, Germaine Ratajczak, Bernard Jonet, Edward Derenne, Lester Marchant and Mildred Ducat.

Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St. Monday, Jan. 23, from 4-8pm with a parish wake service at 7:45pm. Visitation continues, Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Holy Cross Parish, 3009 Bay Settlement Rd., from 9:30am until the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass, 11am Tues. at the church with Rev. Timothy D. Shillcox, O. Praem officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

Betty’s family extends a special thank you to the caring staffs of Compassus Hospice and Patient Pines for their care. Most especially, we extend a heart-felt thank you to our brother Dale for always being there for our mom.
