Bernice Thayse

June 25, 1930 — May 21, 2016

Bernice (Vandenhouten) Thayse, 85, Green Bay, passed away May 21, 2016 surrounded by her family. Born on June 25, 1930, in Tonet, WI, she is the daughter of the late Clarence and Laura (Tombal) Vandenhouten. She married Albert Thayse the father of her children on June 24, 1950. Bernice enjoyed her time as a playground supervisor at St. Bernards School where she was known as Mrs. Orange. She also worked in the kitchen at the former Zuider Zee. Bernice enjoyed puzzles, canning of fresh fruits and vegtables, bingo, cards, dancing, and the bus trips to various places. She was very proud of being a loving and caring mother and grandmother.

She is survived by four children, Sharon (Jack) Melotte Bellevue, WI, Jody Muller of Bellevue WI, Terry (Susan) Thayse of Suamico, and Christopher Thayse of Show Low, AZ; eleven grandchildren, Michelle (James) Nooyen, Chad (Sara) Melotte, Matthew (Kristin) Melotte, Kristie (Cory) Van Pay, Kimberly (Dan) Scanlon, Nick (Terri) Thayse, Nicholas (Charlene) Thayse, Brandon Thayse, Cameron Thayse, Christopher Thayse II, and Alex Thayse; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, Ronald (Catherine) Vandenhouten; brother-in-law, Darold Cayemberg; sister-in-law, Laverne Vandenhouten; special family friend, Bernard Frelich.

Preceded in death by her parents; son, Arlen Thayse; granddaughter, Crystal Thayse; two sisters, Patricia Cayemberg, and Carol Frisque; brother, Gerald Vandenhouten; special friend, Reiner Lemberger and brother-in-law, Marvin Frisque.

Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St. Wednesday, May 25, from 5PM until 7:30PM. Visitation will continue Thursday at St. Bernard Catholic, 2040 Hillside Ln, Church from 9AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM with Rev. Mark Vandersteeg officiating. Entombment at Nicolet Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to sincerely thank all the wonderful people who helped care for their Mom during her long illness. The many visits from her care minister and dear friend Sr. Carmelyn; Kathyrn and Nadine from Home Instead Senior Care; the care givers from Century Ridge, Wyndemere Estates and Unity Hospice. They would like to extend a very special thank you to Sister Carmelyn and the staff and caregivers at Wyndemere for their support and care they provided not only to Mom but the family during her final weeks of life.
