Alvin Richard Virlee, 86, Green Bay, died peacefully, Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at a local health care facility. Born in Brussels, October 12, 1927, he is the son of the late Cyril and Helen (Coisman) Virlee. Alvin married the former Jean Lampereur, June 18, 1945, at St. Mary’s of the Snow Church in Namur and she preceded him in death on May 14, 2005. He worked at the James River Paper Mill his entire career retiring in 1990. Alvin was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, The Holy Name Society, and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed dancing and playing cards.
Alvin is survived by his children, Michael (Paula) Virlee of Normal, IL., Terry Virlee of Madison, Phil (Vickie Szymanski) Virlee of Milwaukee, and Sue (Dan) Tauscher of Sturgeon Bay; 5 grandchildren, Paul (Jennifer) Virlee of La Salle, IL., Micki (Jeff) Shepherd of Bloomington, IL., Sarah Virlee of Milwaukee, Carla Virlee of Minneapolis, and Danielle Tauscher of Sturgeon Bay; 4 great grandchildren, Abby Shepherd and Ally Shepherd of Bloomington, IL., and Jason and Justin Virlee of La Salle, IL.; sister, Mildred Fabry of Green Bay; further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Jenny (Gerald) Murphy; and brothers, Henry, Tony (Doris), and Henry (Ethel) Virlee.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, University Ave. at Baird Street, Friday, Nov. 22nd from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Parish wake service 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue Saturday, Nov. 23rd from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. at Saints Peter and Paul Church with the Rev. Tony Cirignani, OFM officiating. Entombment at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
